populum (Latin: argument referring to the tastes of the people) - pozamerytoryczny way of arguing, in which the speaker refers to the tastes, preferences and prejudices of the crowd. Based on national selfishness, instincts, stereotypes and prejudices, orator seeking to win people to his thesis. This argument is based on the reluctance of most people, a violation of the status quo - innovation, everything new and unfamiliar, difficult problems require profound thought, ambiguity and non-conformism.
